The African National Congress and its members have sent messages of sympathy to Sputla Ramokgopa's family after the death of his mother. This morning, Ramokgopa posted on social media that his mother had died, but he didn't say what caused her death.
In a short but touching message, Ramokgopa thanked his mother for her love. He said, "Thank you for your endless love, goodbye, and good night, Mma."
Ramokgopa also showed some pictures of him and her. She looked very old and frail in the pictures. A few years ago, when the ANC was still in power, Ramokgopa was Mayor of the City of Tshwane.
The party also met with Mpho Moerane's family yesterday. Moerane was the former mayor of Johannesburg. He died in the hospital last week, just days after being in a car accident. Moerane is the third former mayor of Johannesburg to die in the past year. Geoff Makhubo died of a virus called coronavirus, and Jolidee Matongo died in a terrible car accident.
