The country has woken up to the tragic news of young people who lost their lives at a tavern in Scenery Park in East London. The media reported that young people were celebrating a birthday of two people.
The theme for the party was black which somehow became fitting once the tragedy struck. There is still no information as to the cause.
The president of the country Cyril Ramaphosa has joined the country in mourning. He also sent his condolences to their families during this terrible time.
But the President was however, also perturbed about the reported circumstances under which such young people were gathered at a venue which, on the face of it, should be off limits to persons under the age of 18.
According to the South African laws children under the age of 18 are not allowed to drink alcohol or enter an establishment that sells alcohol.
