President Cyril Ramaphosa Committed to Expose Those found Guilty of Corruption.

Yesterday President Cyril Ramaphosa described as historic the online publication of a list of all COVID-19 related government expenditure.

This followed the publishing of all companies by The Office of the Chief Procurement Officer (OCPO), that had been awarded contracts by government for the supply of goods and services relating to the COVID-19 pandemic on the National Treasury website. On the list is all information from provinces national departments and over seventy public entities.

This act was motivated and directed by president Cyril Ramaphosa this month of August where he alleged all departments to submit full and complete information related to COViD-19 renders. The submission were submitted to the ministerial team led by Justice and Correctional Services Minister Ronald Lamola.

“This measure is unprecedented, and a clear demonstration of government’s commitment to transparency and accountability when it comes to allegations of corruption in the COVID-19 procurement process,” President Ramaphosa said.

The president applauded the National Treasury, Department of Justice and Constitutional Development, national and provincial government departments and public entities for responding immediately to his call to compile and submit the required information.

“The collaboration and cooperation between government departments during this process has been laudable, and a clear indication that we are going to intensify our efforts to act against any individuals or companies involved in corruption and profiteering around this pandemic,” President Ramaphosa said.

The National Treasury will on daily basis make sure that the online data is up to date and relevant and available such that it remains current and accurate. The move by the presidency is a bid to be transparent to the citizens. This will allow proper scrutiny by the public and avoid speculation on the matter of tenderpreneurship.

It is is going also to expose those who have been defrauding affected citizens during these trying times. Some politicians took this pandemic season to loot state funds and use state resources to enhance their livelihood. This information will bury a lot and will deal with corruption if monitored diligently.

Do you think ANC will apprehend those found guilty of malfunctioning, those guilty of stealing from COViD-19 related benefits?
