The election compilation has finally concluded and the results are out. The ANC won a majority in 161 of the 213 municipalities, the DA in 13, and the IFP in 10. After no party received an outright majority in any municipality, a total of 66 municipalities will be led by coalition administrations.
In 66 municipalities, there was no clear winner. This trickled down to the metros, where only three of the eight had winners, with political parties receiving more than 50% of the vote. With 58.22% of the vote, the DA regained control of the City of Cape Town, down from 66.7 percent in the 2016 local government election. In two municipalities, Mangaung and Buffalo City, the ANC obtained an outright majority with 50.63 percent and 59.3 percent.
This is where the hard part comes in. These parties have to deliver on their word. What are your thoughts on this matter? Please like, share, comment and follow Newsfield365 for more news. Thank you.
