Speaker opposes ATM court appeal

National assembly speaker Thandi Modise is opposi g another attempt to force her to allow a vote of no confidence motion against the president.

This is to take place by secret ballot. The African transformation movement has applied to the Western cape division of the high Court to be allowed to argue its case in the Supreme Court of appeal.

Now the party's argument for a secret ballot was dismissed by the court in March. But could the prevailing political environment play into its hands. eNCA's reporter Lindsay Dentlinger has more #eNCA

The ANC's political infighting is being laid bare, just as the African Transformation movement is forging ahead with attempts to have MP's vote secretly for a vote of no confidence in President Cyril Ramaphosa.

In documents filed at the court the ATM says it cannot be blind to the sharp factions within the ruling party, it adds that it is in appropriate and irrational for the speaker to be expected to prove a secure environment exists before a secret ballot exists. eNCA's reporter Lindsay Dentlinger filed this report Courtesy of#Dstv403 #eNCA
