The local government elections are around the corner and all the political parties and their leaders are all out trying to persuade voters to vote for them. We see different posters of different contestants all over the streets, poles, and bustops. Some even enter every household, proposing and pursuing people to vote for them.

I don’t believe in campaigning. Everybody knows who they are going to vote for. Whether you campaign every day or whatever strategy you choose, you can never convince a made-up mind.
However, a poster of one of the ANC contestants caused a stir on social media. It is very sad that people judge a person based on their physical appearance or looks. Mduduzi Shngwe, who is contesting for ward 2 of Ophongolo municipality, turned into a laughing stock and people threw some "hurtful comments" after his poster was shared on social media. See his photo below:
The person who shared it on Twitter captioned it " just by looking at him you can see that he’s going to do it. After going through the comments, many people supported him. Some even went on to say he looked like a thug and, obviously, he was going to steal the government’s money.
See some comments below:
This is sad. Just because someone doesn’t meet your "appearance standards" doesn’t mean they are not worth it. As the phrase goes, "Don’t judge a book by its cover". Looks can only deceive you.
However, after going through the comments, a young lady came to rescue after saying she knows the guy and he’s one of the good people she can vote for. She went on to say the top ANC members don’t like him because he’s an honest and moral man. This is an obvious sign that looks are deceiving.
What’s your view on this? After looking at the poster, would you trust him with your vote? Leave your comments below.
