Operating hours were extended by the Department of Home Affairs in selected offices

The school holidays reportedly saw the Department of Home Affairs being under a lot of pressure as most parents were applying for permits that would enable them to travel . As a result , it was reported that the department made a decision to extend its operating hours in some of the offices .

The Minister of Home Affairs , Dr Aaron Motsoaledi reportedly made an announcement on Thursday that selected offices would be operating at a time extended by two hours . This is to take place until the 15th of July 2022 .The extension is only for the application as well as the collection of the IDs and passports .

The Minister reportedly sad that this was part of the department's strategies to get rid of long queues . He said that all clients who would have been inside when the offices close get the desired services .
