John Pombe Joseph Magufuli was the fifth president of Tanzania, serving from 2015 until his death in 2021. He served as Minister of Works, Transport and Communications from 2000 to 2005 and 2010 to 2015 and was chairman of the Southern African Development Community from 2019 to 2020.
He was one of the most loved African president more especially because of his decisions towards running the country, since he was determined to see Tanzania developed without being puppet of other western country.
It has been reported that In 2015, John Magufuli cancelled Tanzania's independence day celebrations ordering that the funds budgeted for the event be channelled to building a road.
In 2020 he did the same and directed that the funds earmarked for the event be used to buy medical facilites. This is a proof to show that he's determined to develop Tanzania.
Highly commendable. I see why some Tanzanians were crying at his funeral.
