Mzwandile Masina, the regional chairperson of Ekhuruleni for the African National Congress, has spoken out in defense of an ANC colleague who is accused of murdering Babita Deokaran, a whistleblower in the Gauteng PPE scam.
Masina stated that the quarantining of 19 votes had been addressed, allowing him to assume his chairmanship. However, the other disappointed Ekhuruleni group, which favored electing Doctor Xhakaza as chairperson, has gathered in Germiston to sing solutions to the problem of their 19 quarantined ballots being ignored.
The former mayor of Ekurhuleni City, Mzwandile Masina, claims that regional treasurer Sello Skhokho is being unfairly portrayed as a killer.
"We will stand with Sello Skhokho, our regional treasurer, who has been accused of murdering Babita. They're trying to make him look like a killer when that's not who he is at all "said Mzwandile Masina.
He continues by saying that Sello Skhokho was never an influential politician, thus he couldn't have used his position to kill the whistleblower Babita.
"After doing time for his role in the defense of Luthuli House, Sello enrolled in college and eventually started his own company. It's unfair to blame him for Babita's death; he's been acting this way since 2016. Unlikely to have ever crossed paths, "What Masina had to say.
Lesego Makhubela, another member of the ANC Ekhuruleni committee, raised the issue of seeking to criminalize black enterprise and portraying them as corrupt. Makhubela has pledged to eliminate the issue in Gauteng.
Makhubela has also been critical of the Democratic Alliance, accusing them of being opportunistic in their vote of no confidence on Premier David Makhura.
"Nothing will get Solly Msimanga to change his mind. The citizens of Ekhuruleni need to file a vote of no confidence in their mayor "His words.
