Media Houses Get Access to Former President Jacob Zuma's SARS Records

The witch hunt continues as two media houses have requested and were given access to Former President Jacob Zuma's SARS records.

This comes at a great surprise to many because a Chapter 9 institution headed by Adv Busisiwe Mkhwebane was denied access to the records a few months ago. SARS told the public protector that they were allowed to refuse her access to these documents even though Zuma himself had given her the go ahead.

These media houses went to court to lobby for these records to be released. The judge ordered SARS to hand them to Amabhungane and Financial Mail within 10 days.

The ruling handed down at the High Court claimed that the taxpayer information was confidential. Thus dismissing her application.

The same High Court is now granting access to these records to media houses. These are the same courts that do not want to unseal President Cyril Ramaphosa's bank statements.

The bias of the courts leaves one with a bitter taste in the mouth.

Can we really still trust the courts? Do you still have faith in the justice system?
