It never rains but pours for the African National Congress, their recent booting out of big metro cities by the Democratic Alliance and the Economic Freedom Fighters in the recent local government elections has proved a bitter pill to swallow. The secretary general, Ace Magashule stands suspended from his duties after he had multiple cases of corruption come up against him.

Former GP MEC Brian Hlongwa to be arrested for decade old graft claims Sources say Brian Hlongwa's camp has been informed of his pending arrest, related to R1.2 billion worth of shady government contracts.

Hlongwa is finally expected to be arrested this week, over graft claims dating back more than a ten years.

“I’ve not heard anything,” he said speaking to local media when he was contacted.

“This matter has been ongoing for quite a while. Up until now, I’ve not heard anything from anyone so I can’t say anything. It’s the year 2021, I was an MEC between 2006 and 2009. There’s been investigations ever since then … I’m hearing this for the first time.
