Tensions are very high within the ANC especially now that in 2022 the ruling party will be heading to it's elective conference to choose it's party president.
Several names have been been making waves that are alleged to be challenging Cyril Ramaphosa for ANC presidency, but those aligned to the CR17 faction however continue to tip toe around that question on whether or not Ramaphosa is their candidate.
Former president Jacob Zuma's daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla has however revealed that former president Thabo Mbeki is making a comeback to the political sphere indicating that maybe there is another Polokwane conference loading.
Duduzile Zuma's utterances comes following the revelation that COPE member Dr Phumzile Mlambo Ngcuka is back in the activities of ANC campaigning for the party.
Thabo Mbeki also who refused to campaign for the ANC during Jacob Zuma's tenure as the president while arguing that the ruling party had no good story to tell to the people is also back on the campaign trail in full swing.
This sudden change in behaviour of Thabo Mbeki has led some critics to opine that something might be up and perhaps a new alliance is being formed as the party is heading to it's 2022 elective conference.
Dots are being connected on what it might mean now that Thabo Mbeki is becoming more active in the ANC after taking a break for several years.
Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla said Thabo Mbeki might be seeking another term in the ANC.
"He didn't get his third term. He is coming for it. Maybe we might have Polokwane 2.0," she said.
The situation in ANC currently makes it difficult to understand who is who and what their intentions are. Factionalism has wrecked the party apart and some loyal members are just confused as to which side they should align with.
One thing that is certain ahead of ANC's elective conference is that there will be a lot of surprises.
