In Shock As 'Top' ANC Leader Is Arrested For Murder

Over the last few weeks, the OnlineNewzBible team has reported quite extensively on the political intolerance and violence that exists within ANC structures. Allegations of political killings have been aplenty, to an extent whereby former deputy president, Dr Kgalema Motlanthe pointed at a possible hijacking of the party by thugs and criminals. Hence another ANC leader has been arrested on allegations of dastardly heinous crime of murder.

According to an exclusive report by News24, ANC bigwig and former councillor in Mpumalanga, Lifa Blessing Nkosi, was arrested this week in relation to the murder of Sergeant Nkosinathi Lucky Ngwenya.

The deceased was reportedly not engaged in the performance of his official work - simply put, he was off-duty - at the time he was allegedly murdered.

Due to its high-profile nature, the case was dealt with by the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks), whose specialised unit was dispatched to Mpumalanga to arrest Nkosi.

It is unclear when the incident took place, but reports indicate that the deceased and his friend were found at a tavern in Barbeton immersed in blood from their wounds. Sadly sergeant Ngwenya did not manage to survive the shooting, while his friend fortunately beaten the odds to survive.

Councillor Nkosi, who is 42 years of age, appeared at the Barbeton Magistrate’s Court yesterday, but the matter has been deffered to a later date, which is in a week's time today.

Nkosi, who is a controversial political figure according those who've interfaced with him, is equally a huge political force within the political dynamics of Mbombela, formerly Nelspruit.

Although there was tough contestations at the Umjindi municipality, where he was the representative of ward 45, Nkosi managed to garner enough votes that would have seen him sworn in as a councilor.

However, that dream would soon exist as a figment of his imaginations, this because the ANC's step aside rule will certainly kick in, which compels all members facing serious criminal and others corruption charges to step aside until the finalisation of their matters.

Again, this is another typical example of the ANC's lack of capacity in so far as its candidate selection process is concerned, lest one is accused of casting aspersions, nonetheless, how does such a questionable character become a candidate councillor for a City municipality? Perhaps we may never know.

Moreso disturbing, is the fact that he is alleged to have murdered a police officer, a person whose responsibility is to ensure protection of communities. We therefore implore the criminal justice system to leave no stone unturned in its quest to successfully prosecute the culprit.

As a parting shot, the ANC's processes in granting its membership ought to be as stringent as it can be, as Dr Motlanthe said, there has to be a commitment to rid the party of rogue elements.
