Twenty four ANC comrades in the O.R Tambo region have been temporarily suspended in line with rule 25.60 of the party's constitution pending disciplinary action against them.
The suspension of these members means they will not be able to exercise their rights as provided for in the constitution, until they have been charged or the Provincial Executive Committee has lifted their suspension.
Andile Lungisa has however turned gun on ANC arguing that political differences in the Eastern Cape are now being resolved by the suspension of comrades who are not favoured by those in authority.
He says the suspension of comrades has now become disastrous and is nothing but political cleansing.
"Political differences in the Eastern Cape are resolved via suspension of comrades. That is dangerous and it is called political purging nothing else," said Lungisa.
Andile Lungisa's utterances were also reiterated by the Economic Freedom Fighters leader, Julius Malema who revealed that president Cyril Ramaphosa has now resorted to using state power to purge those who do not agree with him in his party.
