Home Affairs Minister Says Children Born By Foreigners Are Not South African Citizens

Dr Aaron Motsoaledi have revealed that South Africa is not obliged to give citizenship to children who are born in South Africa to foreigners. This implies that for one to be a South African, either one of the parents must be a South African. Dr Aaron Motsoaledi confirmed that in a situation whereby both parents are not South Africans, even though the child are born in South Africa, they are not South Africans. A popular news platform wrote, “SA not obliged to issue citizenship to children born in SA of foreign parents. Dr Aaron Motsoaledi, Minister of @HomeAffairsSA, has more”. They further revealed that the United Nations already attested to this, giving birth in South Africa does not make the child a South African.

This recent clarification by the minister of Home Affairs, Dr Aaron Motsoaledi is particularly helpful in tackling the issues of citizenship among children born by refugees when both parents are foreigners. Nevertheless, if one of the parents is a refugee and the other parent is a South Africans, the child retains South Africa citizenship. Furthermore, “[email protected] Minister Dr Aaron Motsoaledi gives details of their meeting with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees.

#702WalkTheTalk”. Dr Aaron Motsoaledi have been fighting endlessly to bring the South African immigration crisis under control, including the issue of illegal immigration, Undocumented foreigners and refugees. He is also battling to clean up South Africa Home Affairs after it was reported that there are massive corruptions going on there such as giving of citizenship, fake documents and even foreigners working in the Department. Many people have hailed his zealous attitude and dedication to duty, although he also has many critics.

Dr Aaron Motsoaledi while clarifying this said, “A few weeks ago, there was a group of NGOs and human rights groups that clubbed together and marched to Home Affairs and demanded that every child born of foreign parents who are born on our soil must get our birth certificate and citizenship”. It is hoped that before Mr Aaron Motsoaledi leaves office, he must have set many things right if he is not reshuffled by the president in the next cabinet reshuffling. This is the fear of many South Africans.
