The African National Congress National Executive Council decided to suspend Secretary General Ace Magashule last year (2021). This is after he refused to resign in accordance with a party resolution that requires a member involved in corruption to resign.
It is no secret that suspended African National Congress Secretary General Ace Magashule is a member of the Radical Economic Transformation movement and has high regard for former South African President and African National Congress leader Jacob Zuma.
There are reports that President of the Republic of South Africa and African National Congress Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa has someone in mind to replace Ace Magashule now that he is still suspended and the African National Congress is hosting a leadership Electoral Conference in December 2022.
"Cyril's camp plays their ace: Her name is Gwen | The former Gauteng MEC for health, Gwen Ramokgopa, is tipped to be President Cyril Ramaphosa's ANC faction's favored choice to take over as secretary-general in December," according to reports.
