Heads are rolling: Look at what ANC will be discussing this weekend

Heads are rolling and Lindiwe Sisulu could see herself in some serious hot waters if members of the ANC NEC have their way. Numerous veterans of the party are seemingly concerned the Tourism Ministers remarks and her apology-denial may have brought the ANC into disrepute.

As we speak, there are calls for Minister Lindiwe Sisulu to be hauled before the ANC’s integrity commission for defying President Cyril Ramaphosa. This comes after the back and forth between the president and Sisulu. This week saw a dramatic twist in the Sisulu opinion piece saga. Apparently Sisulu met up with Ramaphosa who rebuked her until she apologized for lashing out at the Constitution of the country. However, it turns out Ramaphosa "lied" about Sisulu apologizing. The controversial Minister released a statement, distancing herself from the "apology" statement issued by the office of the President.

This weekend Sisulu's fate will be discussed by the ruling party. The ANC lekgotla is set to discuss the opinion piece of its national executive committee (NEC) member and Tourism Minister Lindiwe Sisulu, who made disparaging remarks about the country’s black judges and its Constitution. According to news reports, the Lekgotla is set to start on Saturday until Sunday, following the conclusion of the party’s first NEC meeting, which ended on Friday.

In my opinion, Lindiwe Sisulu is seriously daring Ramaphosa to dismiss her from cabinet. She hopes her dismissal will get sympathy votes necessry to help her win ANC conference like Jacob Zuma in 2007 after Mbeki dismissed her. Sisulu has always wanted to be the first female President of the country. In an interview with Aldrin Sampear backing 2017, Sisulu did not mince her words when she said Ramaphosa colonized her into his Cabinet. She said Ramaphosa wanted her to be his Deputy so that she doesn't become president. She accused Ramaphosa of practicing patriarchy. The beef between the two dates back to many years ago. It must be said though, Lindiwe Sisulu comes from a veritable political family pedigree. She is born of stalwartly political couple family and by extension she is a political heavyweight but with no discernible political constituency of her own.
