Parade protest

EFF Brackenfell protest turns chaotic.

The EFF,South African left-wing to far-left pan-Africanist political party protested near Brackenfell High School on friday at Cape Town against alleged racism after a matric farewell dance party was attended by only white pupils, teachers and parents.A permit was granted to them to protest.

Marshall Dlamini emphasized that the school has all races, blacks, whites and coloreds but at the matric dance farewell event black learners were neither informed nor invited to the function. Two teachers apparently attended the function on a wine farm.

The protest was peaceful until the police intercepted the demonstration by blocking half of the protestors from progressing to the school.Dlamini negotiated with police, requesting that they increase the number of protestors allowed to march to the school.

An agreement was reached that 500, instead of 100, protestors could approach the school. However around 3pm EFF supporters tried to barge their way through the cordon and the barricade and police opened fire with stun guns and teargas, they were chaos, people were running for their lives, some were injured by the police when they were firing stun grenades and rubber bullets .There were reports of injured protestors.
