Today marks four days left for Advocate Raymond Zondo as the acting and deputy Chief justice of the Republic of South Africa. On the 31st of this month, (MARCH) 2020, Advocate Raymond Zondo is expected to vacate the office of deputy Chief justice office.
Good news is that, on the 1st of the April 2022 he will be taking over the office of Chief Justice of the republic of South Africa as the new chief justice of the country.
This is following him winning the interviews hosted by the Judiciary Service Commission of the republic of South Africa mandated by the president of the Republic of South Africa Cyril Matamela Ramaphosa and he then later announced the appointment of Judge Raymond Zondo.
Once the new Chief Justice assumes office, president had hired judge president Justice Mandisa Maya for the position of Deputy Chief Justice. This nomination will be subject to the process outlined in Section 174(3) of the Constitution.
Even though the Judiciary Service Commission was nominated Judge Mandisa Maya to be appointed as chief justice, they assured the nation and president to support advocate chief Justice Zondo in his new role.
