ANC MP Mervyn Dirks slapped with suspension over president Cyril Ramaphosa criticism

ANC MP Mervyn Dirks has been placed on precautionary suspension by the party’s parliamentary caucus over what is believed to be a spat over criticism against President Cyril Ramaphosa. 


Mr Mervyn Dirks as the standing committee to summon president Cyril Ramaphosa for using the public fund to run a campaign election and this makes the party to suspend him for making such statements, and he has been placed on a precautionary suspension by the party’s parliamentary caucus over what is believed to be a spat over criticism against President Cyril Ramaphosa.  

Mr Mervyn Dirks was privileged to have a redio of president Cyril Ramaphosa audio when he was aware of using the public fund to run the election in 2022 and this new was all over the social media, and then he writes a letter to the standing committee to summon president Cyril Ramaphosa to explain why he used the public fund to run a campaign election in 2017.


In a replying letter dated 17 January, the ANC’s chief whip Penny Majodina ordered Dirks to withdraw the letter to Scopa but Dirks refused to back down.

Mervyn Dirks was asked to withdraw his letter, but he refused during this suspension Mervyn Dirks’ Scopa membership was also withdrawn, for the period of suspension while investigations are underway. 

Another Twitter said #MervynDirks | Dirks begins his representation to the committee by saying he wrote the letter with a heavy heart, but he cannot remain silent.
