It is no doubt that the African National Congress internal battles have left the boardrooms in porse office; and is now on the dusty streets. But South Africans were shocked when branded taxis were roaming the streets, with ANC Secretary General, Ace Magashule's face; with 'Hands Off Ace Magashule' written all over them.
The branded taxis got Minister of Transport, Fikile Mbalula very agitated and angry. On a leaked phone call conversation, he could be heard lambasting the taxi boss owner for branding his taxis in support of Ace Magashule. Mbalula could have behaved the way he did because it is no secret that he is a proud and loud supporter of president Cyril Ramaphosa's faction.
Malo-A-Botsheba is a taxi boss who hails from Limpopo Province and he is a known to be a loyal supporter to some of the African National Congress comrades; such as Ace Magashule and Danny Msiza who occupies a Treasurer position within the ruling party in Limpopo.
In a leaked recording of a telephone call that emerged on Wednesday, Mbalula, a fierce rival of ANC secretary-general Magashule, is heard saying this to Limpopo’s Malo-A-Botsheba. Msiza is the ANC’s Limpopo treasurer. “You’re inviting trouble for yourself.”
Magashule and Msiza are under pressure to step aside from their powerful party positions as they face criminal charges. Magashule is facing charges in the Bloemfontein High Court dating back to his tenure as former Free State premier, while Msiza has been implicated in defrauding VBS Mutual Bank.
In the recording, Mbalula can be heard telling Malo-A-Botsheba that what he is doing is nonsense and that branding taxis in the way he has is a bad move.
“Whose war is this you’re talking about? Those taxis of yours won’t reach Gauteng, bring them and you’ll see,” Mbalula can be heard saying.
Do you think the taxi boss was wrong in branding his taxis; in support of the ANC SG ?
