The African National Congress is again faced with the trouble of yet another member who refuses to step aside, this after he is accused of stealing thousands of rands meant for the memorial service of the late Winnie Madikizela-Mandela. Madikizela-Mandela died in 2018 and various memorial services were held for her, one of them was meant to be at her province of birth, the Eastern Cape.
Various reports this past week have indicated how the premier of Eastern Cape and others benefitted from the money meant for the service, how money moved accounts until it reached the premier and his croonies. Mabuyane has said that he will be step aside as he is innocent.
This has sent massive upsetting shockwaves to some ANC members who were suspended and had to be forced to vacate their seats as they refused to let go. The like of Ace Magashule, Carl Niehaus and Zandile Gumede have had to be pushed off their chairs as they simply would not let go of power.
Niehaus has since been fired from his Luthuli House job. He has come out vocal about Mabuyane's refusal to go, accusing the party of double standards and party president Cyril Ramaphosa of favouritism.
