ANC Veteran Warns That Ruling Party May Split, Here's Why

ANC veteran, Matthews Phosa has warned that some comrades within the movement may breakaway to form their own party as they are not happy with what is happening.

Phosa said there are comrades who still believe in strong principles and no longer feel ANC is upholding those principles. ANC itself is facing a dilemma after losing key metro in 2021 local government elections.

If the ruling party doesn't manage to put its house in order, it will be difficult for them to instil confidence among citizens and encourage them to vote for the party in 2024.

Critics argue that it seems Matthews Phosa is one of those comrades who are finding it difficult to remain ANC members in good standing after all that is happening. The once glorious movement, has now been reduced to a shadow of it's former self.

"If you take people who are schooled in the ANC as he puts it, and put them in one room again, it will be reinventing the same outcome because it looks like the ANC schooling went horribly wrong when it comes to the truth and serving the people. Phosa wants to rebuild the Titanic," some said.

Some are speculating that this is how Congress of the People was formed after some comrades felt that they could no longer bear it in the African National Congress. Surprisingly, people like Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka are starting to come back into the ANC. She is alleged to have also confirmed that she is an ANC member.

Former COPE member, Mbhazima Shilowa reacting to utterances made Matthews Phosa said he will reserve his comment which might be unfavorable.

"I reserve my comment which would not have been savoury. I can find another cut and paste before Mangaung and later Nasrec and who knows maybe another one five years," he said.

Whether ANC will split or not, that doesn't matter that much. What actually matters is will the party survive 2024 national elections when the centre seem not to be holding?
