His style of leading is exactly what South Africans have been yearning for but no one has step up in the past the way Gayton is doing in Central Karoo District.
McKenzie is decisive and aggressive in a very good way and he obviously cares about the people who trusted him to be their mayor. In his short time as mayor he has done what would have taken 5 years for an ordinary mayor to accomplish.
Gayton McKenzie is the kind of leader who leads from the front, someone who is not scared to dirty his hands for the goodness of people. McKenzie has made life a little bearable by creating employment for many people as well as building proper toilets.
Each and everything he has achieved or done as mayor has been posted on twitter for the whole world to see. Hopefully his displaying of his success will inspire other mayors who have access to funds to copy what he is doing for Central Karoo District.
One of the biggest problem facing our municipalities is the non payment of electricity by bussinesses who operate and generate income each and every day. One of those bussiness found itself on McKenzie's radar because they had been using electricity for free. The bussiness in question is the popular Sun1 Hotel which has many outlets in different cities around SA. Before criticizing the hotel chain for not paying, we need to look at the person who is supposed to oversee such things within the municipality. There are many instances like this all over South Africa but the sad part is that it will take another Gayton to eradicate it one bit at a time. The scary thing is we don't have many Gaytons in this country.
