It has been reported that an ANC member and ward counselor in the KZN province has been shot, and died on the spot whilst doing a door to door campaign, whilst others he was with have gotten gravely injured.

The report states that Siyabonga Mkize who is a ward counselor in ward 101 in the eThekwini municipality has been shod dead during door to door election.campaign in Cato Crest in durban. The two others he was with were rushed to hospital after sustaining gunshot wounds.
