Senegalese voters went to the polls on Sunday to elect local representatives, which many regard as a litmus test for President Macky Sall and the opposition.
It is the country's first election since last year's deadly riots following the arrest of opposition leader Ousmane Sonko.
Many people believe that voting in local elections is about resolving local issues.

"It was very important for me to come and do my duty because we are talking about the municipality, so it is up to us to choose someone who is willing to work for the municipality, someone who is willing to accompany us for the next 5 years," said local elector Amadou Mansour M'Baye.
