EFF leader Julius Malema has shown great leadership, even doing things that other older parties should learn from.
Malema said that the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) has disbanded all of its structures in Limpopo as a result of the party’s poor performance in the province during the municipal elections last November. Malema said this on Tuesday while addressing the media in Johannesburg.News24, DailyMaverick, EWN.
According to The Citizen, the EFF's Central Command Team (CCT) concluded on disbanding the party’s Limpopo structure, saying a team of six people, led by Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, would be sent to the province to elect new leaders. This was announced over the weekend in Boksburg, Ekhurhuleni.
Julius Malema said that he took this decision because the party only increased votes by 1000 and decided to disband all regional teams and send another team to select new provincial command teams - News24.
I think that the ANC can learn a lot from this move by the EFF. It is my experience that when things don't go according to plan, the ANC prefers to continue with the system and the same people, who are part of the problem, despite dismal failures. I don't remember any disbanding of teams within the ANC and government despite the glaring failures of certain people and systems. Instead, what I see is the reshuffling of the same people who, in my opinion, have displayed dismal failure; or those that have corruption charges, etc, in their previous positions.
It is good to review and do an introspection of one's own performance, and not pretend that one is doing well when one is actually not. It is my view that the EFF had to first admit that they have a failing team and are changing it. The ANC on the other hand prefers to pretend that they are doing well, or say that they are not and do nothing about it, in my opinion.
A News24 article notes that this is not the first time the EFF has taken this approach. It is my view that for a new party, this is admirable when comparing it to a more established one that hasn't taken any drastic changes on itself, accept to change presidents despite public outcry.
In 2016, it disbanded provincial structures in both KwaZulu-Natal and Eastern Cape ahead of the 2019 general elections, and the decision seemed to have paid off, as both provinces made progress in the recent municipal elections - News24. The party can celebrate wins in these provinces because of the ability to do self-inventory, instead of hiding from the truth and carrying on with whatever that needs disbanding b in fear of being seen as being wrong to the public- News21, BussinesTech.
