Speculation now has it that Cyril Ramaphosa might announce a stricter lockdown which includes banning interprovincial travel and gatherings.
This is however going to be really tough for the government to implement this time around festive season as people have been expressing that they are tired of lockdowns and want them to end as they have greatly affected businesses and destroyed people's lives.
The timing is also wrong, over the past two months, political parties were having huge gatherings and there was never any reportage of COVID-19 cases going up. Critics argue that it seems government now want to exercise dictatorship by limiting people's freedom of movement during festive season, yet government officials were campaigning ahead of local government elections without a problem.
Mzwanele Manyi, who is the former president Jacob Zuma's spokesperson said this announcement of a stricter lockdown will have to wait and give citizens an opportunity to stock up for business.
Manyi has also been critical of Cyril Ramaphosa's administration and believes that he is failing to lead, hence he must go.
"The announcement of the stricter lockdown regulations has to wait for Black Friday shopping spree to allow stock turnover for businesses. #RamaphosaMustGo," he said.
Mzwanele Manyi further adds that government now want to prohibit gatherings yet only a few weeks ago they were having massive political gatherings.
He said the discovery of this new COVID-19 variant and it's messaging looks like it lacks credibility as science is being arm twisted by politicians.
"Now that elections are over, all of a sudden the new lockdown rules will now prohibit political rally type gatherings.
If you ask me,.. the messaging on COVID-19 lacks credibility because Science is led by politics and expediency instead of vice versa," he said.
