Talking on 702 this week, Mbalula opened up on his kinship with the EFF pioneer, saying they are a long way from foes.
"Julius is my companion. We lived respectively for quite a while and we rose above comradeship to become companions - which means I know his family, he knows my family, he knows my significant other and I know his better half. I know his children, he knows my children," said Mbalula.
Mbalula said the kinship goes past legislative issues and they barely at any point talk about governmental issues when they are together.
"We once in a while examine governmental issues when are together. We talk about existence, chuckle and think back about the past on the grounds that we shared a decent kinship, that actually remains.
"It was battered, that companionship, partially - however it is sturdy since it never passes on, it's still there. I disagree with the EFF on specific things and politically he disagrees with the ANC where he is," said Mbalula.
The pair have referred to one another since their days as individuals from the ANC Youth Group, before Malema framed his own ideological group in 2013.
Before, they have freely taken pokes at one another over issues.
In 2019, Mbalula tossed conceal at Malema for helpless participation at one of his mission occasions and EFF allies pummeled Mbalula for being "fixated on the gathering".
Soon thereafter, Malema pummeled Mbalula after he blamed sportscaster Robert Marawa for "advertising" his gathering during the Soweto derby.
Mbalula said the ANC would not fly over the FNB Arena and blamed Marawa for advancing the EFF during the soccer coordinate.
Malema hopped in on the trade, advising Mbalula to quit "humiliating" himself.
