SA govt doubles down on Ukraine-Russia stance

International Relations and Cooperation Minister Naledi Pandor says if the strategies proposed by South Africa and other non-aligned countries were followed, the conflict between Russia and Ukraine might have possibly de-escalated.

In addition, Pandor said the conflict is escalating in spite of the global community condemning Russia.

She was answering a composed parliamentary inquiry from IFP MP Mkhuleko Hlengwa, who addressed assuming the public authority would reconsider the effect of its call for discourse, intercession and discretion as the contention declined.


Accordingly, Pandor said: "In our commitment with a portion of the allies of these goals, we have demonstrated that while we have a portion of similar objectives, for example, a consent to a prompt truce, the kickoff of philanthropic passages and intervened dealings towards enduring harmony, we have various systems," she said, adding:

" Perhaps, if the strategies proposed by South Africa and other non-aligned countries were followed, the conflict may have de-escalated."
