Many questions are making rounds on the name of Duduzile Zuma about the July unrest if she was among the masterminds of the violence.
Jacob Zuma's foundation made it clear that the media won't question Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla regarding the July unrest to find out if she was part of the instigators. Mzwanele Manyi pulled all strings to make sure that Zuma's daughter was not made to answer questions about the incident. Duduzile attended the Zuma Foundation's briefing at the Maslow Hotel in Johannesburg. The foundation was having what they named " National Welcome Prayer" thanking God for his amazing work of protecting Jacob Zuma and keeping him safe from what they called dark forces who wanted his life.
When it was time for questions and comments the journalist eyed Duduzile and quickly turned to her for questioning on the events of the deadly unrest to find out if she was involved somehow. The question was based on the things that were posted on her social media account. Before the journalist could utter a word Manyi blocked the newsman. The excuse that he made was that they do not want to turn the event to be turned into a presser as her reason she was there was to welcome the quests. Even though Manyi prevented Duduzile from saying anything during the briefing, she could not even say how she feels now that her father was out of prison. She only said that she is happy that he is at home with the family as he was taken from them in a very unfair way.
The former president handed himself over to the Estcourt Correctional Centre in July to serve a 15-month prison sentence. The same scenario led to the free Jacob Zuma protest which saw few days of unrest and looting in Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal. During that period DA leader wanted to lay criminal charges against Duduzile and her brother Duduzane Zuma as they were suspected of instigating the unrest and violence. They said so as Zuma-Sambudla has been sending out tweets that were made in such a way that they were telling people to loot and damage properties. A report from news 24 said that a criminal complaint was registered against Duduzile and the Hawks, as well as the National Prosecuting Authority and a non-profit organization Forensics for Justice, for inciting and supporting the civil unrest.
