OPINION| Is Nelson Chamisa ready for the dialogue ?

Dialogue is literally what the doctor ordered for Zimbabwe. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, with the illogical expectation of getting different results. There is absolutely nothing new under the Zimbabwean sun that Chamisa and his confederates are doing. Previous elections have taught us that you can be as popular as Coca-Cola, but that does not pierce Zanupfs armourWe have to break the cyclical chain of elections that bear contested results by disassembling the system piece by piece, and carefully putting it back together with new and improved parts. And it goes beyond just ZEC. If you pop the hood, you will see that ZEC is just but one cog in a vast machine that is in dire need of an overhaul that will make it modern. And you are not going to fix the system overnight. Rushed reforms would be a recipe for disaster. If you are going to have all encompassing reforms, you are going to need time for those reforms to kick in. You will need time for the system to adapt to them, make them customary to some extentAnd you are not going to change the system and make it people centered and people friendly without Zanupf. Unless you have F16 jets and Abram tanks, then you are going to have to swallow your pride, deflate your ego, sit down with Zanupf and talk. The talks have to be inclusive by nature. I'm told Chamisa has demanded that Douglas Mwonzora be excluded from any future dialogue and that Zanupf resigns en masse from government to make way for a transitional authority, led by his preferred people. Does that sound like someone interested in dialogue ? And it doesn't sound to me like someone with the nation at heart. It sure looks to me like someone hiding authoritarian traits. ~Looks to me like someone who is a closed book
