When the department of social development announced that the buffet for social relief funds has been reduced, they also announced that there will be some beneficiaries who will be cut off so that the money can be provided for those who are in dire need. With that, they decided to do application reconsideration, checking each beneficiary if they had some extra income.
This was done in May and now Many people did not receive their June grant since the status said the status had declined for various reasons. All over social media, people have been crying that their applications were denied for reasons that they believe are not valid. For example, many people say the reason for their application denial is that they have another source of income while they don’t even have a single cent they receive other than sassa. Finally,
SASSA has decided to listen to people's concerns and they are calling for everyone who thinks their application was unfairly declined to lodge an appeal so that they can be considered again. Those who want to make an appeal must use the DSG independent tribunal website, which is: https://srd.dsd.gov.za
After entering on that link, you should navigate to where it’s written "Click here to lodge an appeal or to check appeal status." Then you will have to enter your identity number, phone number, and the OTP code that will be sent to your number. They did not give specific dates on when the appeal would be approved, but they said it wouldn’t take time.
Sassa should stop this practice of cutting off people. Since the budget has been reduced, they should also reduce the R350 to another new amount that will allow them to give everyone their grant, because now they are cutting off even people who really need the money. What do you think should be done to fasten the process or to make sure that there are no applications that are wrongfully rejected? Comment below.
