Welcoming a newborn baby in your home is a beautiful thing. And if you are a traditional person there's rituals and traditions that you have perform to welcome the newborn.
When you get home from Hospital after having a baby, you must have someone who'll help you. The mother of a newborn baby is not allowed to enter the kitchen. The mother will only allowed to enter the kitchen after two weeks of giving birth.
The first thing that you must do when you get home with a newborn baby you must burn doepa for the new born baby. This doepa can be found at chemists and pharmacies.
When the child's umbilical cord has not fallen off the mother mustn't go anywhere. She must stay in the house until the umbilical cord falls off.
When the baby umbilical cord stumps dries and fall off you don't just throw it away anyhow. There's a right way to do that. You'll dig in the ground and bury the child's umbilical cord. Traditionally it's believed it's that the umbilical cord is what connects the new born baby to ancestors.
The baby must stay in one until he/she is 1 month old. The room that the baby is in, not everyone is allowed to go into that room. The room can only be seen by the mother and the person that is helping the mother with the newborn.
The person that is helping the mother with the baby is not allowed to sleep with a man until the baby is 1 month old. Even the mother is not allowed to sleep with a man until the baby is 3 months old. If you don't follow this it can make the baby get sick easily.
Before the baby is 1 month and can be seen by other people in the household you must cut the baby's hair and after that the baby can be seen by other people in the home.
People who are not living in house can only see the baby after 3 months. In the olden days the it was 6 to 12 months but times have changed you can only wait for 3 months. If the baby hasn't reached 3 months when you go out with the baby you must cover him/her at all times.
