City Of Tshwane Raise Alarm Concerning Number Of Teenage Pregnancies

Concerns have been raised by the City of Tshwane on the issue of teenage pregnancy which the country has been battling for some time now. Last two years, Public health facilities recorded nearly 10,000 teenage deliveries.

This report got many people talking on Facebook. Some people said it is a serious issue because even people in grade 8 are now getting pregnant. Another user who reacted to the report blamed teenage pregnancy on the lockdown imposed by the government during the Covid-19.

"Very concerning because now even learners who are doing grade 8 are pregnant," said a Facebook user.

“I blame the lockdown, kids spend a week without going to school... And this is what they do at home,” said a Facebook user.

This is a serious issue that the South African government needs to look into because most of these girls didn't want to be out in a family way but they are forced into it. Some unfortunate incidents sometimes lead to teenage pregnancy. The girl should be educated about the negative effect of teenage pregnancy. They should be taught how to prevent it.
