The Gauteng MEC for Health Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi has urged breastfeeding mothers to frequently donate milk to the province's four milk Banks to help pre-term infants to get nutritious meals.
She added that infant formula does not match up to breast milk,the baby receives optimal nutrition and there are lifetime health benefits for the child.She mentioned that adults who were breastfed as babies may have lower risk of obesity, diabetes and heart disease
The South African Depression and anxiety group (Sadag) had an increase in number of calls from people with signs of depression caused by the Covid-19 and the lockdown restrictions.
Ways to boost your mental health are:
•Exercising- do simple exercise to ease the pressure from your mind.
•Seek for help - talk to someone in about what you are feeling and ask for guidance.
•Do an activity you're good at - Do the activity you're good at with absolute joy .
•Manage your sleep hours - Sleep to the fullest 8 hours in total for your body to gain enough strength .
