For the longest time you never knew what you were getting when you decided to have a child you never knew what you were getting. You couldn't choose whether you were going to have a boy or a girl, how tall the child will be or their hair color and eye color. However the future is now and designer babies seem to be the next big thing. In the very near future you may be able to choose the physical attributes of your baby. However just because you can, does it mean you should, all the details are below.
Designing your future child :
Using genetic improvements and DNA splicing future parents will soon be able to design their child before it's born. This will give parents the opportunity to get what they seem "The Perfect Child" without being in doubt of the process. However it's not just the physical looks, making a designer baby can actually help protect children from disorders and disabilities. If it's caught early, certain disorders and dieses can be removed from the Child's DNA long before it's born. This could help give them a better life in the future, However it also opens up a huge controversy.
Just because you can, does it mean you should :
This is a huge ethical issue here is that we are basically designing children. It's very superficial that we get to choose how a child looks beforehand, as if we are creating children in the image we want rather than in the image they should be in. Are we allowed to edit a child's appearance before their born. It's very very much like playing God and messing with the natural process of things. Which opens up the question of why we are really having Children in the first place.
Being a parent is about love :
Having a child requires you to have many skills, one of those skills is love. You should love your child no matter what they look like or what gender they have. If people do love ve their children regardless of their physical appearance than what is the need for these types of designer babies. Personally, apart from helping children who may have disabilities, I believe that the ability to edit your child should be outlawed.
