Some youths in Limpopo are reported to be breathing through the wound as a result of the hardships they are facing. They have even lost all hope and find no reason to go to the polls to cast their votes.
Even though the government of South Africa is issuing the R350 Unemployment Grants, it is not enough to cater to all of their needs.
There are basic needs such as electricity, cooking oil, sugar, mealie meal, soap, and many more which can´t be covered by the R350 Unemployment Grant. Even though half a loaf is better than nothing, the frustration that has hit some youths in Limpopo is understandable. It is devastating to wait for thirty days and to be given R350 that will not even afford you to do anything.
The government of South Africa seems to be taking everything easy instead of working towards finding solutions. Instead of the R350 Unemployment Grants, the government needs to work day and night to find ways of making the unemployed have their own businesses to run. There has to be a Ministry of Youth Employment in place to work towards turning around the misery into glory. It is sad to note how depressed the youths are as a result of not having a source of income.
The youths complete their studies only to go and stay at their homes as a result of unemployment. The government may have introduced the youth employment initiative via the Ministry of Basic Education, but the initiative is temporary. The government needs to consider making those positions permanent in order to help increase the sense of security.
