Chelsea is hoping to add more quality players to its team while still attempting to manage the club's wage structure. Chelsea are very conservative with their spending and would let go of players who demanded more money than they could afford.
Antonio Rüdiger is one of Chelsea's best center-backs, and he is a big reason for the team's strong defensive record. Rudiger has been playing at the highest level under Thomas Tuchel's management and has been consistent in his performances.
Because he has less than a year left on his deal, the 28-year-old may quit Chelsea if his contract demands are not met. According to reports, Antonio Rüdiger is seeking a pay raise to almost £200,000. Chelsea, on the other hand, has rejected his offer and would only pay him £150,000.
Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, and Real Madrid are all keeping an eye on Antonio Rüdiger's status at Chelsea and would jump at the chance to sign him if the opportunity arises. Antonio Rüdiger is in fantastic form right now, and any team would be fortunate to have him in their lineup.
Here are three defenders that could step in for Chelsea's Antonio Rüdiger:
1. Matthijs De Ligt
De light is a young player with a lot of potential, but his time at Juventus has not been particularly fruitful for him. The 22-year-old defender possesses speed, strength, and outstanding defending abilities, but he is prone to blunders that could result in a goal for the opposing team.
When Frank Lampard was Chelsea's manager, Antonio Rüdiger was an ordinary player, but under Thomas Tuchel, he became one of the finest defenders in the Premier League. De ligt is in a similar situation, since he is still young and has the potential to develop into a top defender if he joins Chelsea.
2. Niklas Süle
Bayern Munich and Chelsea are rumored to be negotiating a transfer for Antonio Rüdiger. The player that would be swapped is Niklas Süle, who is younger and has a larger frame than Rudiger.
Süle, who stands at 1.95m, takes advantage of his height to win aerial balls. He's a little taller than Virgil Van Dijk, and he's also a terrific defender. Sule's only flaw is his lack of speed, although despite this, he is an excellent defender.
3. Milan Skriniar
Inter Milan defender Skriniar might replace Rüdiger if the German decides to leave Chelsea. Skriniar is slightly shorter than Rüdiger, but he can still win headers and keep the defense under control.
Skriniar is one of Serie A's greatest defenders, and he appears to be the ideal successor for Antonio Rüdiger. He, like Sule, lacks speed, but it's only obvious when he's up against extremely fast wingers.
