The Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga is on celebration mode following the release of the 2020 Matric results.She was on celebration mode because the results were more than what she had anticipated.
The overall pass rate for the 2020 class is reported to have been 76.2 percent. Angie Motshekga highlighted that if there would not have been the Covid-19 pandemic, the performance would have been even better.
The Deputy Minister of Basic Education Reginah Mhaule is reported to have been the one who made the opening remarks being grateful of all the working staff which helped in making the 2020 academic calender pull through despite the various challenges.She also managed to highlight the importance of the School Nutrition Programme
However , the Minister of Basic Education Mrs Angie Motshekga expressed delight in the number of distinctions received under the 2020 academic year.

** Free State - 85.1 percent
** Gauteng - 83.3 percent
** Western Cape - 79.9 percent
** Kwa-Zulu Natal - 77.6 percent
** North West- 76.2 percent
** Mpumalanga - 73.7 percent
** Limpopo - 68.2 percent
** Eastern Cape - 68.1 percent
** Northern Cape - 66 percent
