Parts Of Gauteng Will Remain Without Water For 54 Hours

Rand Water plans 54 hour water cuts in parts of Gauteng

JOHANNESBURG – Next week Monday, Johannesburg Water will cut supply for at least 54 hours across large parts of the city.

Rand Water, the entity’s main supplier, is conducting planned maintenance on a raw water pipe that supplies the Vereeniging water purifying plant.

Supply from the Eikenhof pump station to Johannesburg south, the As well Central Business District, Northern and Western areas of the city will be affected. In some areas it has been reportedly started already and ordinary members of the public were basically caught off guard because this warning only came a few hours or in the early hours of the morning today.

So Rand Water didn’t give people enough time to prepare some have not even seen the news and they don’t know about it, so they will be surprised tomorrow when the water doesn’t come back because right now people are thinking that the water will definitely come back which is not the case.

Johannesburg Water says the maintenance will result in poor to no supply in most high lying and high demand areas, however they are not being very discreet about their operations but we’ll just have to wait and see because these are symptoms that are being displayed by the likes of Eskom and we are sensitive to such eventualities because we don't want to end up in a situation where we find ourselves without electricity or water.

Because that would make the country unliveable for most people, and some will be forced to seek alternative places to stay which are more suitable to their goals and their health.

On Monday, Johannesburg Water will cut supply for at least 54 hours across large parts of the city. Rand Water is doing maintenance on a water pipe that supplies the Vereeniging water purifying plant, this is very unfortunate but it seems like ordinary members of the public will have to remain without water for a couple more days, then life will be back to normal and you we just pray that incident is dealt with poste haste.
