Family has to be the most important thing in a person's life. It should be a place where a person finds every support they need without a doubt, be it financial support or emotional support, families should be there to provide that.
Unfortunately that is not the case in most families, many families struggle to accept people who are members of the LGBTQ community especially in Africa, which makes it harder for them to come out about their sexuality.
Members of the LGBTQ community find it hard to disclose their sexuality because of the fear of being rejected by society and family. Many families have struggled to accept people who are members of the LGBTQ community because of what society and Christianity says, for many years it is believed to be against Christianity.
It becomes worse when a person is rejected by their family because of their sexuality, some families chase out and even disown their own because of their sexuality.
A young 28 year-old woman named Sisanda Gumede, from Umbumbulu in KwaZulu Natal was stabbed and killed by her own cousin allegedly because she is lesbian, the perpetrator even went to the family and gloated that "I have killed your homosexual".
What kind of cruelty is this, to kill someone in cold blood and go and gloat about it.
May Her Soul Rest In Peace.
