Former Pirates coach reveals that he had interesting talks with Al-Ahly

Every team will always have different candidates after their vacant position and it’s a normal thing. Then the club management will have to do a shortlist after the application date has been closed. This will even be followed by interviews and certain agreements before the ideal coach has been chosen. After all, the management has to do what’s best for the team. Now, the former Orlando Pirates head coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has come out to state that he had held serious talks with Al Ahly.

He has decided to open up about the whole talks with the Egyptian giants, as he felt that he could have got the coaching gig. However, Sredojevic feels that he made some decisions that he regrets and that could have led to him losing the coaching gig at Ahly. “Yes, there were negotiations [with Al Ahly] and there was even a verbal agreement, but then it didn’t reach advanced stages. Unfortunately, there are decisions that I regret,” said Sredojevic talking to the media.

Micho spent some time in Egypt as he was coaching Ahly’s rivals Zamalek in 2019 and even won the Egypt Cup with the side. He even stated that there were some major challenges that he had to face within Zamalek, unfortunately, that didn’t work out and he had to depart from the club. After him, Zamalek was able to win the Egyptian Premier League title and he’s happy that they’re doing well. However, he stated that he wouldn’t mind returning to Zamalek as they have a great relationship. That would only be possible if there’s better conditions within the club that will make him work properly. At the moment, the Serbian tactician is coaching the Ugandan national team after he left Zambia. “During my time with Zamalek, the quality and spirit among the players were not the same, there were some problems, and the conditions were more difficult than now. I was unlucky to leave Zamalek, but I’m happy with what they have achieved,” said Micho talking to the media.
