Despite the season still being at its infancy stage, chopping and changing of coaches in the Premier Soccer League (PSL) still continues unabated.
DStv Premiership side TS Galaxy have seemingly moved with automatic alacrity to ensure the goalkeeper coach position is filled, this after the club confirmed the appointment of Moroka Swallows legendary shotstopper, Greg Etafia as the new man to take up the reigns.
Etafia has been roped in to replace the departed Lucky Shiburi whom the axe swung on at the same former coach Owen Da Gama was relieved of his duties amidst a poor start to the season.
Galaxy are currently anchoring the DStv Premiership standings after six games, having failed to win a single match.
Etafia will be expected to improve the goalkeeping department as the team has shipped in a whopping 11 goals, averaging just 2 conceded goals per match.
The former Nigerian international expressed his sincere gratitude to Galaxy chairman, Tim Sukazi for affording him the opportunity to showcase his abilities.
"I would like profoundly show my gratitude to Mr. Tim Sukazi for proffering me with an opportunity to be an integral component of this wonderdul club. He is a great man. He knows what he is doing. I’m greatly humbled and thankful to be part of this beautiful family," Etafia said on the club's website.
Since calling it a day 4 years ago as an active player, the Swallows legend has amassed vast experience at several clubs, his recent gig was at the now-defunct Highlands Park, which by the way is the club Galaxy bought. The 39-years-old has indicated that he will use that experience to help the team to get more clean sheets.
"Getting clean sheets is the results of team work, both the defence and the goalkeeper are integral on this front. My immediate task is to ensure goalkeepers make important saves in games to help the team," he continued.
His appointment comes about a week since Galaxy appointed German-Bosnian coach Sead Ramović to take over the reigns.
The new coaches will be hoping to have a perfect start when they host AmaZulu FC in a Dstv Premiership match at the Mbombela stadium on 19 October.
What do you make of Etafia's appointment. Do you think it would make any difference?
