Pastors are people that not only members of certain churches go to when they need spiritual help. Even non churchgoers often run to them when they need prayers.
The first and most important reason we need pastors is because Christ has commanded them to be heralds of the Word of God. It is foundational to the office of pastor to deliver, expound, and explain God’s Word to His people. This task is so foundational that it is common to refer to a pastor as “preacher.”
In the present age, there are many different kinds of pastors but the saddest reality is that some of them always tarnish the name of the Lord. Their actions don't go hand in hand with what is written in the holy Bible.
Just when you thought a church is one of the most peaceful places one can ever go to you thought wrong. There's a video that was filmed in one of the churches in SA that is circulating on social media. In the video, pastors were captured fighting each other on the pulpit. What was supposed to be a church service was turned into a street fight.
If the church leaders captured had differences, what would make them think fighting in front of the congregation was a good way to solve them? Their church members will think it is right to fight in church. Next time they will be doing exactly what they saw their pastors doing.
"Never pay back evil for evil to anyone. Respect what is right in the sight of all men. If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men. Never take your own revenge, beloved, but leave room for the wrath of God. Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” - Romans 12:17-21.
These verses present some important limitations on the use of physical force. We are not to avenge wrongs done to ourselves. In fact, we are to behave in the opposite way toward our enemies and treat them with kindness! We are also not to harbour anger in our hearts against people who have done wrong to us because that is the same sin as acting on the anger.
