Meet The Only Goalkeeper To Have Scored A Hat-trick In The History Of Football

In football, the primary goal of a goalie is to prevent a goal from being scored on him or her. The goalkeeper is the last line of defense and is positioned at the back of the net.

Some goalkeepers, on the other hand, have the capacity to score goals as well. Seeing a goalkeeper score a goal in football, let alone three goals in a single game, is extremely rare (three goals in a single match)

The Goalkeeper Who scored A Hat-Trick

Jose Luis Chilavert's full name is Jose Luis Chilavert. In addition to playing for Real Zaragoza in Spain and Strasbourg in France, Luis Chilavert is a retired Paraguayan footballer who has represented his country on the international stage.

Chilavert was well-known for his tenacity and his willingness to engage in heated debate.

As one of the goalkeepers who revealed to the entire world that goalkeepers can do more than merely save shots, Chilavert deserves to be recognized. Chilavert scored a lot of goals during his career, and he is second only to Brazilian legend Rogeiro Ceni in terms of goals scored.

Chilavert's hat-trick of victories

Luis Chilavert became the first goalkeeper in history to score a hat-trick, and no other goalkeeper has been able to match his achievement.

The goal came on November 28th, 1999, while Chilavert was playing for Argentine side Velez versus Ferro Carril Oeste, in which he scored three goals. Velez defeated their opponents 6-1, with three goals coming from Chilavert (shown).

The Paraguayan goalkeeper scored all three of his team's goals from the penalty spot, which wasn't shocking at the time because he was a very good set-piece taker to begin with.

Chilavert finished his professional career with a total of 62 official career goals for the teams he served as well as for his country.
