Zero Waste Gardening, zero waste home, zero waste children, 0 waste kitchen, 0 waste recipes Leave a remark

Maybe you’ve been tossing your lemon peels into your homemade cleansing spray for years. It’s a exceptional way to get a 2nd use out of these lemons before composting. But what about banana peels. Is it viable to reuse them by some means earlier than tossing them in the compost.

The ones banana peels can serve many functions in your lawn. You could simply cut up the little devils and placed them immediately into your soil. Just no longer too regularly. With the amount of bananas my family is going thru, our whole backyard could be a banana compost at this point. So then what?

Try making some banana peel tea. And earlier than you get grossed out, it’s now not for us to drink. Don’t fear. It’s for our vegetation.

Soaking banana peels in water leaches the nutrients out of the peels and when used to water your garden, they supply your flora a satisfied nutrient raise.

And making banana peel tea couldn’t be easier. I wager it may be less complicated in case you make someone else do

Ingredients:

Banana peels I generally go through approximately three-5 at a time

Water

Jar with lid (I use a 32 oz.Mason jar)

Directions:

Place banana peels in the jar and fill to the top with faucet water.

Seal, and allow to steep for twenty-four-48 hours.

When geared up, strain the liquid from the peels, and use the liquid to water your flowers. I used a straining lid generally used for sproutingand watered my orange tree without delay from the jar.

NOW you may compost the banana peels. We got a cute 2nd use out of them that benefited our garden.

We haven’t run any assessments, and most effective use this recipe and my lawn compost for my vegetation, and feature in no way had to buy any industrial .
