4 society expectations you should not follow

In this article, I am going to talk about the things that society expects you to do but you should never do. It is up to you if you want to cave in to any of these things, but they are not a must. What I'm trying to say is that you should live your life on your terms. Make your own rules and stop doing things because you think that is what is expected of you. All these things are toxic. They will bring nothing but unnecessary problems. They might not be toxic to you but to me, they are all destructive and unnecessary. Remember that if you don't follow these rules, you will be judged harshly by society. Most people end up not living the life they want because of the fear of what people might say. This article aims to free you from social fears.

1. You need to smoke and drink

In my culture, no one is going to take you seriously if you don't drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes as a man. It takes courage to just say no. No one is going to hang out with you. Some people may even think that there is something wrong with you. These two habits are destructive and you don't have to do them if you don't want to. I am here to tell you that there are no benefits to smoking or drinking. They just make your life harder than it should be. If no one wants to hang out with you, it doesn't matter because you have yourself. You can become your own best friend.

2. You need to go to college.

High school is a must. You need to finish high school, but studying further it's a choice. If you want to be a lawyer, doctor, teacher, or engineer, then you have to go to college. If what you want to do with your life requires creativity like being a writer, musician, YouTuber, or entrepreneur, then you don't need a degree. When I graduated from high school I was very uncertain. I thought that going to college was a must. I went there just to find out that I was wasting my mother's money, so I dropped out. No one is going to look down on you or call you a loser just because you don't have a degree. A degree is not the measure of intelligence.

3. You need to get married or have a girlfriend

You can have a girlfriend if you want to but don't feel pressured. If you are happy with being single, then you don't have to get a girlfriend. You may have a girl that you are pushing with and that is ok if you are ok with being a boyfriend. It only becomes a problem when you put a ring on her. Most men get married because they get pressured by their parents and society to do so. Never get married if you don't want to. The problem with women is that when she starts to figure you out and there is no mystery anymore, it's either she is going to cheat or divorce you and take half of everything you worked for.

4. You need to have children

It is not considered normal by society to reach a certain age without having children. If you are not ready to be a father, you don't have to. You can only have children when you are ready. You are the only one who knows your financial situation.
