If someone told me years back that I would post my pictures in a group that may expose me any sort of vulnerability, being judged, criticized, complimented etc, I would have told them it's a lie.I grew up a shy girl who lacked confidence. When I said "when I grow up I will be a lawyer",some laughed. A lawyer and yet you always quiet, in the background. I had believed what people said was beauty. What people said was acceptable, I never thought I could do anything until my Grandmother told me I can be anything and beauty is meWhen I searched within a found a power that is unique. Love, loyalty, respect, kindness. I started affirming, Iam beautiful, I am rare and I am intelligent but I am humble and I will stay humble. My point is noone holds your light but you are the light, ignite it and let it shine, because no one is you, you matterNobody is born confident, confidence is something you develop as you go through life and as you put yourself in new situations or new environments. when you see others who ooze confidence, they weren’t born that way. they acquired their confidence by confronting challenging situations, pushing their boundaries, and doing things they thought they’d never be able to do, all things you can do to grow your confidence as wellWhom we deem ‘beautiful’ is a reflection of our values. What are our Values as Asakhane Live ?What a majority of us do is reach conclusions based on a person’s appearance. As a result, the virtues are ignored. Only a few consider looking deep into a person’s virtue, keeping appearance aside. For me, a person is ten times more attractive, not by their looks but by their acts of kindness, love, respect, honesty, and loyalty.
We can squabble and rumble over this so called competition but we are all adults and we should know that the competition is meant to be for fun and not to belittle. We don't want to be a society that praises a certain kind of beauty and we mislead our upcoming generation.social media affects individuals negatively, in pushing them to engage in life threatening beauty trends due to social compliance and acceptance in societyToday, Social Media is one of the most important factors contributing to the mental, emotional, physical and spiritual health of an individual. With the media constantly portraying ideal beauty and body image comparisons, the decisions of men and women’s beauty choices are globally affected.
I would like to encourage people not to be disheartened, beauty is in you. You don't have to be fair, slim to be beautiful. Yes society says so, but remember there is only one you and you are unique and precious, noone has the right to tell you otherwise..
You are the definition of beauty!
