Attitude of gratitude

Many things have changed. We’ve faced so many challenges, we have been through deep seas and travelled very rocky roads. We have managed to make it this far, through a global pandemic. We have adapted to so many changes which has shaped our lives tremendously. So, if you are still breathing and still in good health- take a moment to reflect and to notice how truly resilient you are.

Let’s face it- life is by no means easy and to still navigate your way while in a global pandemic takes great courage. Sometimes we feel like we aren’t getting anywhere, as if our efforts to create a better life, better habits and a better mindset is futile and that’s normal. You are only human. We find ourselves in tough times. This pandemic has taken so much from us. It has taken over our entire being and next thing we knew we found ourselves consumed in fear, this pandemic has brutally taken away a father, a mother, siblings, extended relatives and even close friends. In some cases, this pandemic has taken away our dreams.

Someone reading this article right now might have had so many dreams before this pandemic – dreams to travel and see the world. Someone had dreams of becoming a business owner, someone had dreams of going to university and experiencing life on campus. Someone had dreams of having a big wedding. The reality is, this pandemic has deprived us of so many things.

Despite the many things that this pandemic has deprived us of, we still have so many things to be thankful for. We are still alive and we are still healthy. Today I would like to encourage you to take at least 5 minutes at the end of each evening to reflect. Reflect on how resilient you have been, not just throughout the day but throughout your life. We are all trying to find our feet. Despite the many things we have been deprived of during this pandemic, NEVER GIVE UP ON YOUR DREAMS.

Continue dreaming, continue working hard to achieve those goals you have set for yourself and continue being resilient. Continue working late nights on those assignments, continue promoting your small business, for those who haven’t already- start that business, continue making sacrifices. You might not see it now, but a few years from now your future self will thank you for the sacrifices you have made.

Most importantly, always maintain an attitude of gratitude. We always have so much to be thankful for, no matter how little it is.
